Title : NEW HAVEN SHARPIE, DESIGNED BY CHAPELLE, ON CHESTER RIVER
Date Made : Range 01/01/1936 - 12/31/1936
New Haven sharpies are not Chesapeake sailing workboats, of course. But I grabbed this one from the Chapelle Photo Collection at Chesapeake Bay Maritime Museum (CBMM) because ... Who knew that Chapelle designed a New Haven sharpie? For a client in Maryland?
The name on the bow is Jolly Roger.
I found no other source or date information for this photo besides what's in the citation above.
Chapelle didn't change residence from Massachusetts to Dorchester County until 1941.
Chapelle's first sailboat was a New Haven sharpie, given to him in 1913, at age 12.
