Two-Masted Stick-up Flattie
in the Chesapeake Bay Maritime Museum Collection
When I was searching through the online database of the CBMM Collections, I can across references to a two-masted stick-up flattie. I knew that Howard Chapelle published plans and discussed the history of stick-up skiffs with a single mast, but not two masts.
I visited the CBMM Collections library in autumn 2023 and examined plans and photos of this unusual sail plan, and the scale model by Edward Thieler. In his notes about the model, Mr. Thieler agreed with my own observation that plans and photos of a two-masted stick-up skiff had never been published.
